Cobra Ring with Gemstone

An antique finish sterling silver ring, based on the cobra motif found extensively in Ancient Egyptian art. Set with a marquise Gemstone. 

The cobra, with it's hood dilated, was described by the Greek word uraeus. The cobra in this pose symbolised wisdom, power, sovereignty, royalty, divinity, divine authority and Lower Egypt. As the burnning eye of Ra, it also personified the sun.

The first Uraeus was created by the goddess Isis.
